Legacy's Shortcomings and Accomplishments

I heard from a customer today.  He wasn’t happy.  Someone here dropped the ball .  The incident caused me to reflect on our business, our shortcomings, and our accomplishments.

First I’d like to put things in perspective.  Less than two years ago we developed a Performance CNC upgrade for our Ornamental Mill customers.  Feedback from our customers lead to the development of the Standard CNC upgrade package at half the price of the performance package making CNC available to many more woodworkers.  Feed-back from our customers also lead to the development of our OM5 CNC milling and turning center.  This commercial quality system will turn an 8 foot column or process 4X8 sheet goods.  Customers also asked for something bigger and more accurate than a converted Ornamental Mill but smaller than an OM5 so we developed two Artisan  series, mid size, CNC turning/milling centers.

Conversational CAM - The Next Generation

Many of Legacy’s CNC customers own Conversational CAM V3.1.  This program is a spread sheet that you can open in either Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc.  Design to create G Code for basic turning process by simply answering a few questions, Conversational CAM allows you to start turning spindles that feature basic turnings, flutes and spirals in just minutes.  The forms are simple to use but become confusing when it comes to pasting blocks of code together to create a single program that performs all of the operations.  Many of our customers have asked if Legacy has plans to change and improve the program, and the answer is……… YES!

The spreadsheets were designed to act as a bridge while we develop the next generation.  We are currently testing the beta version of the program and here are the Top Ten Features you can look forward to when Conversational CAM V4.0 is released in a couple of months.
