Tailstock (2)
For whatever reason, parts wearout and get loose. Tailstock center wobble will look like y-axis problems. This applies to both cnc and manual machines. The solution is to cut two (2) new parts using 1/4" UHMW. UHMW will last longer than Delran and is second only to teflon for slickness. Drill the guide hole using a forstner bit to create a zero-clearance hole. Cut the part as wide a possible to allow maximum material on the top and bottom of the center. Install one on each side of the metal holder. The fit should be snug and gives a full 1/2" of contact with the center adding even more stability. -
