For this demonstration we used TurboCAD to draw the bat, Conversational CAM's new Profile Turning process to program the turning and Aspire to program the carved logo.

In this video we used CCAM to generate the program to create the tapered spindle featuring beads and coves as well as a contoured foot.  The reeds were programmed in G Code; however, Legacy will soon release a side reeding process for CCAM.

Legacy's Conversational CAM (CCAM4) software allows you to combine two turning techniques to create turned spindles; tool profile turning and contour turnings.  When combined with Legacy's exclusive 5th axis for articulating the stock, CCAM4 allows you to machine parts up to 10 times faster than a traditional 4 axis CNC.  In this video we demonstrate a very traditional design that would normally be turned on a lathe.

Preview Legacy's new optional process for turning a contoured round section.  We used TurboCAD to draw the spindle and then took the coordinates from the drawing and plugged them into CCAM4's new Turning Round Contour Profile process to generate the code.  This technique will open new world of possibilities for turning spindles.  We will create new processes to mill multi-side parts following a contour or add details like contoured flutes or reeds that cut from the side of the part following a contour.  We can also add spiral flutes and any number of possilities all following a contour profile.
